The Whittet-Higgins NSHM Series Shoelok is a metric, mechanically self-locking bearing retaining nut machined entirely from hardened alloy. It threads onto a shaft or spindle and locks by means of three tangential socket-head cap screws that, when torqued in a bolt-circle pattern, press three internally threaded locking shoes radially inward against the shaft threads, providing uniform 360-degree clamping to the center of the shaft without damaging the threads.
Tangential (X-axis) access lets the assembly be locked and adjusted from the side, making the Shoelok ideal for positioning and retaining bearings and other components on high-speed, high-precision assemblies with infinite preload adjustment. The hardened-alloy construction delivers high axial loading capacity and resists loosening from vibration, shock, and torque. The NSHM Series meets and exceeds ISO 2982-2:2013(E) and is manufactured in the USA.
