Coverage of the earliest period does (of necessity through lack of records?) encompass rather a lot of conjecture and assumptions.
There's certainly a good coverage of the period - but it can become rather dry as it cycles through successive rulers.
There's limited information about how the average person lived during the time covered.
Tended to skim past extended descriptions of fairy tales of ancient beliefs and convictions.
The book occasionally reverts to mentions of much later personalities (such as Freud) and comparing them to characters of ancient China!

Not worth the paper itโs printed on.

I canโt say that I was expecting such a slim volume on 10,000 years of Chinese culture to be a work of rigorous scholarship, but I also wasnโt expecting it to be quite *this* dreadful. It is badly written to the point of being unreadable, and it is clear that no one thought to edit the document before publication. I made it about twenty pages in before I had to put it down. The entire thing reads like an Anthropology 101 term paper written by a first semester college freshman who hasnโt quite figured out how to back up claims with evidence yet.
