In Greek mythology, the nymph Amethystos refused the attentions of Dionysus, the god of wine and intoxication. Thus, in ancient times, the gem which bears her name was believed to ward off drunkenness. It is also believed to increase intuition and psychic abilities, and is used in meditation to promote a clarity of vision and clear-thinking.
Because of amethyst's rich royal color, in medieval Europe it was associated with monarchs and the rich and powerful. Amethyst is a variety of quartz and occurs in shades ranging from lavender to deep violet.

Amethyst is the birthstone for February, as well as the traditional gift for a 6th wedding anniversary.

I recently had to replace the starter on my 2001 325i E46 with about 150k miles. While I had the intake off, I figured it would be a good time to replace the CCV because I was unsure if it had ever been done.
