We only have one left! What a crazy phenomenon! This is our very first time ever having leucistic albino axolotls. These funny looking guys have albino eyes that blend into their skin colour! They lack coloration in their freckles, giving them a very smooth, polished look as they grow. As the eyes become larger, they will remain white, but the shape and outlines of the eyes will become more noticeable.
This specific axolotl is extra unique and absolutely adorable - it experienced an unusual regenerative phenomenon and regrew one of its arms as two arms instead of one, giving it effectively three front arms total! Because of this, the arm looks a little gimpy and funny, but it is fully healthy, active, swims normally, and eats very well. Axolotls are famous for their regenerative abilities, and in rare cases regeneration can create unusual results like this. If this arm were ever accidentally injured or nipped in the future, it would most likely regrow back normally as a single arm again. However, we absolutely do not recommend intentionally causing any trauma to the animal.
It was very hard to get accurate photos due to water reflection. We do not sell many aquatic animals, so we do not have the proper photography equipment for aquatic setups and did our best. These photos truly do not do this little one justice, it is way cuter in person!
Please take care to use only reverse osmosis or distilled water, as this species is incredibly sensitive to chemicals in the water. This species must also be kept in cold water, no warmer than 70°F.
