Discover the rich tapestry of Armenian history through the lens of British perspectives in 'Imagining Armenia.' This meticulously researched book, published by Manchester University Press in 2009, delves into the portrayal of Armenia and Armenians during a pivotal era. Focusing on the complex relationship between Armenians and their British observers, the book explores the early development of atrocity narratives surrounding the Armenian plight under Ottoman oppression. Learn how the historical account of the Armenian massacres during the First World War reshaped public consciousness and transformed existing images of Armenians. Author Laycock brings to light the post-war efforts aimed at establishing a sovereign Armenian nation while highlighting international initiatives for the relief and resettlement of Armenian refugees. 'Imagining Armenia' not only addresses the urgent crises of its time but also connects them with the long-term consequences of the British and international community's response—shaping the collective memory surrounding Armenians. Whether you're a scholar of modern British history, Armenian studies, or European history, this book serves as an indispensable resource for understanding the intricate narratives that define the Armenian experience. Dive deep into the legacy of Armenian identity and memory with this invaluable addition to your library, perfect for students, researchers, and history enthusiasts alike.Shipping Notes

Not too shabby
Format: Kindle
The art is really stunning, if a bit over-sexualized at times. But seriously, it's a really beautiful book. The story is interesting enough, but doesn't knock your socks off. A great way to scratch that steampunk itch, I do recommend Lady Mechanika. But I do recommend tempering expectations relative to the writing.
