Tasting Notes
Appearance
Deep ruby with a garnet hue, displaying excellent colour saturation and brilliant clarity. The wine's rich, vibrant appearance reflects the concentration and quality of Yarra Valley Pinot Noir, whilst the depth of colour suggests the wine's structured tannin profile and flavour intensity typical of this renowned Victorian region.
Aroma
The nose is inviting and complex, opening with dark cherry, plump raspberries and strawberry coulis, complemented by sweet baking spices that add warmth and complexity. This aromatic profile showcases the classic Yarra Valley Pinot Noir character, with the cherry fruit and cherry wood notes coupled with delicious brambly spice creating a sophisticated bouquet.
Palate
Rich and concentrated, the palate presents dark cherries and plums that swell the juicy palate with beautiful ripe cherry and strawberry fruits. A detailed, structured tannin frames the wine, whilst balanced acidity carries the plush, dark berry fruits through the lingering finish. A savoury brambly spice builds complexity throughout, with the lovely briary spice carrying alongside the ripe cherry fruit to create a wine that is silky, fresh and approachable—true to the regional style and exemplifying the clean, modern winemaking techniques employed at Yering Station.
Pairs With
This versatile Pinot Noir pairs beautifully with roasted duck breast or duck confit, grilled lamb with herbs, mushroom risotto or truffle dishes, beef bourguignon, venison or game meats, and aged Gruyère or Comté cheese, whilst its juicy character also complements charcuterie and slow-cooked pork dishes.
