FRANTISEK PECENY (1920-1977) Pečeny belongs to the first generation of glassmakers who started to work on pressed glass after WWII. He studied at the School of Arts and Crafts in Prague. In 1947 he became an artist in Hermanova Hut, later Sklo Glass Union.
From the beginning he tried to give artistic value to pressed glass, which would distinguish it from merely imitating cut glass. His designs are characterized mainly by using optical quality glass. He used simple surface layouts and later added various lens effects. In the seventies as a master of decor he applied relief decors, especially flower ornamentation.
František Pečený had a serious accident in the mid-sixties in which he lost one eye, but after recovery he returned to work.
The pressed glass of František Pečený was exhibited for example at EXPO 58 in Brussels, Czechoslovak glass Moscow1 in 959 and at the exhibition of Czech pressed glass in Gottwaldov (now Zlín (zlēn)) in 1972.
