De vlag van Noord-Korea bestaat uit drie horizontale banen: blauw boven en onder, met een brede rode baan in het midden die wordt begrensd door twee smalle witte strepen. Aan de linkerkant van de rode baan staat een witte cirkel met daarin een rode vijfpuntige ster.

Symboliek en achtergrond

De rode kleur staat voor revolutie en patriottisme, terwijl de witte strepen en cirkel traditionele Koreaanse waarden van zuiverheid en onafhankelijkheid symboliseren. De blauwe banen vertegenwoordigen vrede en vriendschap. De rode ster staat voor het socialisme en de leidende rol van de communistische partij. Deze vlag werd officieel aangenomen op 8 september 1948, toen de Democratische Volksrepubliek Korea werd opgericht. De vlag wordt vaak gezien als een krachtig ideologisch symbool binnen en buiten Noord-Korea.

Received a perfect bunch!
Some things are truly hit or miss with Amazon Fresh grocery deliveries! I Some things are truly hit or miss with Amazon Fresh grocery deliveries! I hadn’t ordered bananas for about a month due to what I’d received in the past. Personal preference? I want those lovely pale green ends! Please!!! I don’t like the flavor or even the change in scent that happens when bananas turn darker yellow, freckle - or worse? Turn brown. Yuck. Each previous delivery, I hadn’t been able to eat more than 3 out of each bunch because of the already yellowed fruit received. I even tried the currently trendy recommendation of wrapping the individual stem ends in plastic wrap to help slow the ripening process. Was very pleased to receive a bunch of 6 small sized bananas, all delicately green and completely beautiful! Beautiful job by the thoughtful delivery person as well, who didn’t just leave the bags in the rain on the (only 2!) steps, but made sure they were under the protection of the porch and not blocking my door. Some items I never order anymore (beloved snap peas and garnet potatoes are two examples) after receiving spoiled items - more than once. Apparently notifying Amazon of our understandable disappointment, not to mention the waste! can sometimes improve the quality of items delivered. I do very much appreciate the Amazon Fresh delivery service in my (rapidly approaching) old age.
