De wijnen van Hess Collection Winery

Donald Hess richtte in 1986 de Hess Collection Winery op. De wijngaarden behoren ongetwijfeld tot de beste in Napa Valley. En wat erop groeit en gevinifieerd is, maakt deel uit van de Californische wijnelite die kenners over de hele wereld waarderen. Hoewel Napa Valley zelf relatief klein is, herbergt het diverse microklimaten en bodems die bij uitstek geschikt zijn voor de wijndruivenbouw. Hier zorgt de combinatie van een typisch lang, warm groeiseizoen en goed doorlatende bodems voor optimale rijpingsomstandigheden voor Cabernet Sauvignon. Het wordt beschouwd als een van de beste wijnregio's ter wereld. De wijnen van de Hess Collection zijn eigendom van een familie, duurzaam gekweekt en toegewijd aan het weerspiegelen van een echt gevoel van plaats. De wijnen zijn herkenbaar aan hun elegante, rijke en complexe smaken en een traditie van uitmuntendheid. De druiven zijn geworteld in een bodem met een vulkanisch oppervlak dat wordt afgewisseld met klei en klei. Alle drie de druivensoorten worden gemalen en na de temperatuur gecontroleerde maceratie rijp de wijn gedurende achttien maanden in Amerikaanse eiken vaten, waarvan 25 procent nieuw vat is.

Finally a Cooling Blanket That Actually Works for Hot Sleepers

I first got to know this brand when they released their cooling pillow. At the time, I was very skeptical because I’ve tried many “cooling” pillows and pillowcases from other brands, and almost all of them failed to stay cool throughout the night. Surprisingly, this brand was the first one that actually worked for me. Going through menopause has been extremely difficult, especially dealing with the constant heat and night sweats. I kept thinking that if they could somehow use the same cooling technology in a blanket, it would be amazing — and they actually did it. This blanket has honestly been a lifesaver for me. One side has the cooling fabric while the other side feels more like a regular blanket, so you can switch depending on the temperature or season. I’ve been using a silk comforter before this, and while it was comfortable, it really didn’t help much with overheating at night. This cooling blanket made a noticeable difference almost immediately. What impressed me most is that the cooling effect doesn’t just disappear after a few minutes. It stays comfortably cool and lightweight through the night without feeling damp or overly thin. Since using it, I’ve actually been tracking improvements in my sleep using my WHOOP device, and over the past 20 days I’ve noticed my deep sleep readings improving consistently. The blanket also feels well made, soft, and lightweight without feeling cheap. For the quality and performance, I think the price is very fair, especially compared to other “cooling” bedding products that overpromise and underdeliver. If you struggle with hot sleeping, night sweats, or menopause-related heat issues, I would absolutely recommend giving this a try. It genuinely improved my sleep quality.

Great blanket for keeping cool, but doesn't magically defy physics.

This blanket is pretty awesome, and functions exactly as stated; however you might get the wrong impression from the image of the blanket in a the snowy mountains glowing blue as if its actively cooling. The blanket has two sides, the "cold" and "normal" side -- the cold side is the one that has the Q-max 0.45 effect, it actually feels cool to the touch. That being said, covering yourself with this blanket feels pretty similar to using a down blanket with a silk (or some cooler) fabric. It feels quite cool initially but eventually your body puts out enough heat and it "runs out" of cooling. Although this blanket doesn't magically actively generate cooling, its quite effective because it operates fundamentally differently from most blankets. Most blankets are engineered to keep you warm by trapping heat in; this blanket is explicitly designed to draw heat away from your body. As such, it is extremely effective if you use a fan or run the AC, because your body heat is drawn away from the top surface and the inner surface can "grab" and remove more heat. As you probably know, air is a great insulator so this blanket has to be making contact with your body to achieve the cooling effect. If you are familiar with the way "Under Armor" works, I believe this blanket uses a similar principle to keep you cool. This blanket is quite light weight and comfortable, with a very silky (polyester) feeling outer surface. I have not owned this for a year yet, but I'm quite confident that this blanket would be suitable for winter (in Southern California); except if you live in a snowy region. 5/5 for a somewhat high tech blanket that keeps you cool; its the best in cooling you can get without resorting to "active" cooled blankets such as ones with water circulation.
