What's included

  • Warm bath with deshedding shampooLoosens the dead undercoat from the skin so the dryer can do its work. Australian-made, gentle on sensitive skin.
  • Conditioning treatmentHelps the dryer and the rake glide through the coat without pulling.
  • High-velocity blow dryTemperature-controlled dryer pushes loose undercoat out from the root. This is where the volume of fur comes off.
  • Undercoat rake workTargeted rake and slicker work to lift remaining loose coat without damaging the topcoat or weather-protective guard hairs.
  • Nail clippingTrimmed to a healthy length, filed if tolerated.
  • Ear cleanWiped, checked and tidied. Long-eared breeds get a careful inner-ear pluck only where it's needed.
  • Sanitary tidy and paw trimClean, neat finish around the paws and sanitary area.
  • Finishing spray and bandanaLight spritz and a bandana on the way out.

How it works

01
Drop off

Quick chat about how heavy the shedding is, any sensitivities, and any matting we should know about.

02
Bath and conditioning soak

Deshedding shampoo, then conditioner, both worked into the coat and given time to do their job.

03
High-velocity dry and rake

The big-volume work. Dryer plus rake plus patience pulls out an impressive amount of dead coat.

04
Pickup

We text when ready. You'll see the difference (and so will your vacuum cleaner).

Long coat deshed grooms take 2 to 3 hours. Big double coats during seasonal blows can take longer. Worth it. We'd rather pull the coat out properly once than do half a job and have you back in two weeks.

Pricing by size

We price by your dog's size, coat type and condition. Pick your size below. If you're between sizes, choose the larger one. Final price is confirmed at check-in.

Why double coats need this

Double-coated breeds (Goldens, Aussies, Border Collies, Pomeranians, German Shepherds, Huskies) carry a dense undercoat under their topcoat. Twice a year, that undercoat sheds out in volume. If it doesn't come out at the groomer, it comes out on your floors, your car, your couch and your clothes for weeks.

The bigger problem: trapped dead undercoat doesn't insulate, it traps heat and moisture against the skin. On the Gold Coast in summer that's a fast track to hot spots and skin irritation. Deshedding is as much about skin health as it is about fur.

What we won't do: shave a double coat. Shaving damages the regrowth cycle and can leave the coat patchy and prone to sunburn. Deshedding removes the loose stuff and leaves the topcoat (and the dog's natural temperature regulation) intact.

A note on matting. Long coats and double coats mat fast, especially behind the ears, in the armpits and along the rump. Tell us at booking if you've noticed any matting. We don't pull on tight mats, we work them out gently or recommend a humane reset clip if dematting would be painful. Severe pelt-style matting may need a clip-down before the deshed can happen.

Frequently asked questions

Will my dog look shaved or thinner after?

No. Deshedding lifts the loose dead undercoat. Your dog's actual coat length and topcoat is unchanged. They just look (and feel) lighter and cleaner.

How often should I book a deshed?

Every 6 to 8 weeks year-round, dropping to every 4 to 6 weeks during spring and autumn coat blows. Heavy shedders during a seasonal blow can need a deshed every 4 weeks for 2 to 3 visits.

Why won't you shave my Husky / Golden / Aussie?

Shaving a double coat damages the regrowth, can cause patchy regrowth, and removes the dog's natural sun protection. We deshed instead, which removes the heat-trapping fluff but keeps the protective topcoat intact.

Can you do my Pomeranian?

Yes. Pomeranians are tiny double coats and deshed beautifully. Same logic applies, no shave-down.

My dog has skin issues. Is the shampoo OK?

Tell us at booking and we'll swap to a sensitive or medicated shampoo. We can still get the deshedding work done with a gentler bath.

What products do you use?

Melanie Newman, an Australian salon range. Deshedding-specific formula plus options for sensitive skin and medicated needs.

Do you accept nervous or senior dogs?

Yes. Tell us at booking so we can plan a calmer pace and longer settle time. Senior dogs can have shorter sessions split across two visits if a full session is too much.

Can I use Afterpay?

Yes. Choose Afterpay at checkout for four interest-free fortnightly payments.

1999 BMW 528i Fit and works like Original BMW-Pleasantly Surprised
1999 BMW 528i M52TU Engine. Pleasantly surprised and impressed. Everything fit as it should. Yes, one connector pipe took a bit more pressure to get it to "click" and lock, but it did click and lock..and better tight to insure no vacuum leak. Definitely works well and stopped the vacuum leak that old system had. Would recommend especially since price point might lead one to think that quality is not that good, but I'm glad I didn't spend any more on something else. Highly recommend.

Test fit to make sure it connects
When I revived it I thought it had looked a little too small until I compared it, I test fitted it and at first I thought it was a tad bit bigger but realized the more I pushed it in the more it went very tight fit and my car is running healthy. Installation is a pain but go to YouTube and search the “” the 50’s kid”” Who has two methods to getting them on, I went the intake removal route to replace additional parts.

Cheap Replacement
These are an easy replacement for anyone who owns a BMW m52/m54 engine that has PCV issues. My car was burning about 1 quart every 1,000 miles. The parts are direct fit and install fairly easy. If there is resistance, lube the hole or o-ring up with some grease and it will slide in easier. Took me about 2 hours start to finish. My mechanic recommended that I remove the intake manifold to do the job. I don’t see how you could do it without removing the intake manifold. These parts probably won’t last as long as true BMW parts but on a 20 year old car I don’t see the benefit in using genuine BMW parts. Cheap stuff will suffice; worst case it doesn’t last quite as long.

NOT TOO HARD TO INSTALL...
This CCV kit seems adequate. People say that because the hoses supplied with these kits are more brittle than the genuine BMW parts, these are tough to install... But they're really not. The ends on these hoses SWIVEL and you can sort of eyeball which way you need the fitting to be pointing BEFORE you put them on your manifold... They swivel, but they're tight and it takes a little force to turn them. ALSO, a little dab of silicone gel or a spray of silicone out of the can, into the fittings on these makes a world of difference when clicking them on... For the price, I highly recommend the kit.

Great value
I recently had to replace the starter on my 2001 325i E46 with about 150k miles. While I had the intake off, I figured it would be a good time to replace the CCV because I was unsure if it had ever been done. My old CCV literally fell apart as I removed it, so I'm glad I replaced it. The new parts were a little tough to put together, but overall came together well enough. A lot can be forgiven for the price. I would recommend assembling the system before installing in your vehicle to get a good sense of how it all goes together and to hopefully loosen up the fittings just a tad before installation. 50skid on youtube has a great DIY for doing this job. I only finished this job yesterday, but my car has been running great. I can't yet confirm, but this may have solved my running lean problem.
