With wings fused with wax covered in feathers, Icarus viewed life from a high vertical, aiming to be the leader of them all. Being the successor of a renowned sculptor, Icarus reprised attributes of his offspring, Daedalus, which eventually ended up being a double-edged sword.

Initially known for making instruments that are crucial in the world of carpentry, Daedalus woke up on the wrong side of the bed when he helped Pasiphae, King Minos’ wife, commit a heinous crime. In the aftermath of getting caught, both Daedalus and Icarus were served with jail time. Desperate for freedom, Icarus and Daedalus turned to wax and feathers for help.

Since the uncovered ceiling was their only hope, the pair made wings out of the former component, agreeing to stay away from the sun in order to prevent their wings from melting away. But of course, the former agreement eventually fell through, especially once Icarus got the hang of the vertical.

In fact, at one point, many believe that Icarus not only looked like God, but also seemed like the first being to see eye-to-eye with the sun. It was too good to be true, though, as Daedalus and Icarus’ project led to the death of the son, and generated a regretful father. The emblem of Icarus on the image is mostly jarring for its wingspan, and its razor-sharp facial features.
