A striking and substantial Victorian fob seal. A heavier example with a beautifully ornate and detailed setting, showcasing the grandeur and craftsmanship typical of the period. The rich, decorative gold cased frame adds wonderful presence and depth, making this an especially handsome piece.

The base holds an engraved intaglio seal featuring the Latin motto “Spero Meliora”, translating to “I hope for better things”. Beneath the motto is the image of a proud lion, symbolising courage and strength, and below that the engraved initials M.S., likely those of the original owner.

A token from history, filled with character that can be cherished and worn as much today as it was over 200 years ago.;
