2021 The Great Engravers 'William Wyon' Gothic Crown 5oz Silver Proof Coin

This series introduced in 2019 celebrates the work of the Royal Mint's great engravers over the past 200 years, recreating many of the iconic designs. The series to date contains three reworked masterpieces from William Wyon, the 2019 'Una and the Lion' and the 2020 'Three Graces' and, now the beautiful 1847 Gothic Crown which is to be released in 2 parts, the 1st showing the original reverse design and the 2nd due early in 2022 featuring the obverse. All are Proof coins available in silver and gold versions. The coins released to date are some of the most sought after issues produced by the Royal Mint for many, many years with the latest 'Three Graces' coin selling out in less than 1 minute after going on sale to the public. Within hours of the launch these coins were trading for many times their initial sale price, causing collectors worldwide to question such low mintages with so many disappointed that even the lowest denomination two ounce silver version were simply out of their reach.

The Gothic Crown
.
The first of a 2 part coin release continuing the extremely popular Great Engravers series features the original reverse with the 5th head portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Jody Clark on the obverse dated 2021. Unlike the original coins they have been reproduced with a milled edge. As is now usual with the Great Engraver series all coins in the release sold out within an hour of going on sale. Part 2 featuring the original Gothic portrait obverse will follow early in the new year and will no doubt be just as sought after.
.
William Wyon Chief Engraver from 1828 until his death in 1851 was probably at the very peak of his career when he produced the 1847 Gothic Crown. Considered to be one of the most beautiful coins ever produced, the design features a Gothic Portrait of Queen Victoria dressed in an ornate lace gothic style dress. A style that Victoria was very found of, as it enjoyed a revival in the early Victorian period. The Latin legends translates on obverse as "Victoria by the Grace of God, Queen of the Britain's, Defender of the Faith,".
.
The reverse is no less subdued featuring a crowned cruciform of shields, emblems in angles, garter star in the centre, with the date in roman numerals in lower right of the legend. Just 8000 were issued in 1847 with the edge inscription 'undecimo' which translates in English to 'Eleventh' this is to mark Victoria's 11th year of reign. The Latin legend translates to "May God guard these united, in the year of our Lord 1847."

Beware of the Top Button!!😁
Style: M705
A smooth but weighted feel on a mouse pad. I have mice that move with a much lighter touch, but this is great for the computer I use with my main TV screen. Beware of the top damnable button, the one just before the scroll wheel. It turns off the clicky graduations you wheel as you roll the scroll wheel with your fingertip. When used it unleashes a whirling dervish of a gremlin, your screen will continue to scroll after you want it to stop. Sometimes it will start on its own! Incantations, voodoo, chick bones, curses and magic wands have no effect. Yelling seems to make it worse. There is no other cure other than to push the top button from Hades again. Clicks from the two main buttons are easily audible but not obnoxious. The side buttons for screen forward & back work very well also. This is my second one of these, the first stopped moving smoothly on a pad, no amount of polishing seemed to help so I retired it.

Important Info for Connecting Replacement Mouse
Style: M705
I purchased the MK705 mouse to replace the same model that had simply worn out after over 13 years of faithful service. The MK700/710 Logitech keyboard is still going strong, albeit with a few worn keys. I did however run into an issue when installing the new mouse. At first I left the old unifying receiver that came with the old mouse plugged into a usb port. I installed the batteries in the new mouse, turned it on, and found that it would not work. I figured it needed the new unifying receiver, so I turned off the keyboard and mouse and plugged the new receiver into the same USB port. The new mouse then worked but the keyboard would not. I couldn't figure out what was wrong, so I phoned Logitech support. The gentleman I spoke with walked me through the connection process, which was done on their website "logiwebconnect.com". Should you run into the same issue, the process is simple. You probably won't need any help from tech support, but if you do, they were easy to get in touch with.

Still the champ
Style: M705
Love it!!! Got this originally when it first came out. The people who talk about the scroll wheel are not very smart. It has a button to switch from hyper to regular scrolling. I do use a mouse pad. So it moves fine. Feels very comfortable in your hand. Obviously this is not for gaming. Great mouse for your home office computer.

Dependable, Reliable

As advertised. Logitech, best mouse for your hard-earned cheddar! It’s not that the (years) old Logitech mouse failed in any operational way, it just got that gummy, sticky surface texture that’s impossible to remove. While shopping for a replacement I noticed an off-brand mouse/keyboard combo and thought, “hey, 2 for 1”…mistake. All was well for about three weeks, long enough that when the gremlins arrived I didn’t immediately associate the new hardware. For the purposes of this discussion, gentle reader, know that I run legacy (what I affectionately refer to as, “Lazarus”) builds. Rigs that started life running Windows Vista/7, died, and that now, resurrected, run 10 and 11, and all that that implies. So, when a mouse started stuttering, of course I thought it was a gremlin in the machine, right? I spent more days than I am comfortable sharing with you pouring over processes and background apps, and registry trims…before Accam’s Razor suggested I eliminate the mouse as a variable. Changing the battery was ineffective, but when I swapped in the ooold Logitech…Yahtzee/Bingo/Booyah…smooth and precise…butter! All I needed was a new Logitech mouse. So, if you’re here you likely are having mouse issues of your own, or you just need one that works…this is it! 😉
