This Forged Drop Spindle Front Disc Brake Kit is engineered for 1968–1977 Type 1 Beetles and 1967–1974 Karmann Ghias equipped with ball joint front ends. By utilizing premium Wilwood high-performance calipers, this kit bridges the gap between vintage style and modern track-ready braking.

Precision Engineering & Forged Strength Unlike welded alternatives, the included 2.5" drop spindles are forged for maximum structural integrity. They lower your vehicle’s center of gravity without sacrificing ride quality or changing steering geometry. The kit features directional drilled and slotted rotors, zinc-plated for corrosion resistance and double-drilled to accommodate both Porsche (5x130mm) and Chevy (5x4.75") wheel bolt patterns.

Wilwood Partnership EMPI has partnered with Wilwood Disc Brakes to develop these billet aluminum calipers specifically for the air-cooled VW platform. These calipers offer superior heat dissipation and clamping force compared to stock cast-iron units. This version features the Natural Finish for a clean, race-inspired aesthetic.

  • Double-Drilled Rotors: Zinc-plated, directional drilled/slotted (5x130mm w/ 14x1.5mm threads & 5x4.75" w/ 12mm threads).

  • Premium SKF Bearings: High-speed wheel bearings and seals for longevity.

Perfect for roof LED light bar

This worked great for wiring a 50" LED light bar to the roof of my SUV. This kit conveniently includes a relay, switch with backlight, and fuses. I used a step bit to drill the pilot hole for the switch and worked my way up until it was the right size. I zip tied the excess wire and it made for a clean install. My only complaint is that the ring terminals were too large for the battery but it was easy to crimp smaller ones on.

Good harness

I bought this for the nilight 12in bar. It came in the same box and right on time. It easily connected to the light bar and into the engine. There is a lot of slack between the battery terminals and the bar, but it’s understandable if maybe you wanted to mount this on the back of your vehicle. I wish there was more slack between the relay and the switch, as having to go from the battery through the firewall and into the cabin requires sufficient length. I ended up getting rid of the circular switch that came with it and it’s complimentary connectors to replace it with my own rectangular rocket switch that fit better in the cabin. Overall good product. I’d advise to wrap electrical tape around the quick disconnect to prevent any weather wear.
