'Кобзар' -- перша книга поетичних творів Тараса Григоровича Шевченка а також розповсюджена назва збірок найбільш значних творів письменника.

Всього за життя Шевченко створив 235 поетичних творів, поем та балад.

Уперше 'Кобзар' було видано 1840 року у Санкт-Петербурзі за сприяння Євгена Гребінки на кошти Петра Мартоса. До збірки ввійшли перші вісім творів: 'Перебендя', 'Катерина', 'Тополя', 'Думка' ('Нащо мені чорні брови'), 'До Основ'яненка', 'Іван Підкова', 'Тарасова ніч' та 'Думи мої, думи мої, лихо мені з вами', що написана спеціально для цього збірника і є своєрідним епіграфом не тільки до цього видання, але і до усієї творчості великого Кобзаря. Тарас Шевченко навіть деякі свої повісті почав підписувати 'Кобзарь Дармограй'.

У Черкасах існує єдиний у світі музей однієї книги - 'Кобзаря' Т. Г. Шевченка, відкритий у травні 1989 року в меморіальній будівлі, в якій із 18 до 22. липня 1859 року жив у сім'ї Цибульських Т. Шевченко.
