Emlid Reach Extension Pole | 20cm 5/8" Antenna Mount

If you're struggling to get a solid radio transmission over the site hoarding, this Emlid Reach Extension Pole is exactly what you need. After 10 years of supplying commercial RTK GNSS equipment to the UK, we know that losing a fixed solution because your rover is stuck behind a dirt mound is deeply infuriating. This simple 20 cm extension gives your local radio antenna the crucial extra height required to clear obstacles, maintain line of sight with your base station, and keep your survey data flowing seamlessly. Featuring standard 5/8" threads, it natively fits the quick release mount of your Reach RS4, RS4 Pro, or RX2 receivers. Buy this deceptively simple piece of metal so we can keep the lights on, and you can stop watching your data collector drop helplessly into float mode.

Key Highlights

  • 20 cm Elevation: Lifts your radio antenna higher to punch through site noise and improve base-to-rover communication.
  • Universal Survey Thread: Equipped with industry-standard 5/8" threads for completely painless, tool-free integration.
  • Guaranteed Fit: Specifically engineered to attach perfectly to the quick release mounts of the Reach RS4, RS4 Pro, and RX2.

Why You Want the Emlid Reach Extension Pole

Because physical line of sight is the undisputed king of reliable radio communication. If you are operating a local UHF or LoRa setup rather than relying on an NTRIP caster, your antenna needs to be as high as practically possible. This extension is a distinctly low-tech solution to a high-tech headache. It ensures your GNSS receivers aren't struggling to whisper to each other through concrete walls and transit vans. It’s lightweight, robust, and the easiest way to improve your signal reliability without upgrading your core hardware.

Specifications

  • Length: 20 cm
  • Thread: 5/8"
  • Compatibility: Quick release mount of Reach RS4, Reach RS4 Pro, and Reach RX2
  • Weight: Data unavailable (Emlid forgot to provide this, but it weighs significantly less than the disappointment of a lost radio link).
  • Material: Data unavailable (Assume it's machined out of sturdy metal and the tears of previous surveyors).

FAQ

Will this extension pole fit standard surveying equipment?

Yes. Because the surveying industry miraculously agreed on a single mounting standard decades ago, this extension features a universal 5/8" thread. While it is explicitly designed for the quick release mounts of the Emlid Reach RS4, RS4 Pro, and RX2, it will securely screw onto virtually any 5/8" threaded surveying pole, bracket, or base station tripod.

What’s in the Box*

  • 1× Emlid Reach Extension Pole (20 cm)

Disclaimer

This is quite literally just a 20 cm threaded extension pole. It will not magically fix your cellular network issues, nor will it convince the site manager to sign off on your invoice any faster. Please thread it on carefully; we will not accept returns because you cross-threaded it at 6:00 AM in the freezing rain.

Still Here?

It's a metal extension stick. You either need the extra antenna clearance to do your job properly, or you don't. Add it to your cart, expense it to the client as vital communications infrastructure, and move on with your day.

Hardy the poet
Format: Paperback
We all know Hardy the novelist, but perhaps he is less well known as a poet. In this volume of over 900 pages, with nearly 1,000 poems, Hardy is colorful, chatty, direct, lyrical, thoughtful, deep. And perhaps his finest quality - at least so I find - is the fact that he is down-to-earth. His poems are not "difficult" for a reasonably literate, experienced reader; and the rhyming is never forced. In short, his poems are a delight.

The other side of one of the giants of the Victorian era.
Format: Paperback
Thomas Hardy is my favorite novelist who has ever lived. I preface the review of this poetry anthology - which includes every one of the 900+ poems he wrote throughout his life, from the 1860s to just before his death in 1928 - in this way because I’m a bit biased. Hardy’s poetry is technically satisfying and nearly as moving as his novels, and you can tell that the same precision he brought to prose is on full display in his verse. I’m working my way through every single poem in this collection, and thus far my favorites are “The Convergence of the Twain” and “After the Last Breath.” There are other poets whose works I like better (Dickinson, Yeats, Wordsworth, and Whitman come to mind), but as an amateur Hardy scholar, reading this collection is positively invaluable to understand the full depth of his genius, and as always Wordsworth Classics delivers in terms of a quality paperback that should withstand years of enjoyment. I own many of their releases and have yet to find one that even slightly disappoints.
