100% PureCold-PressedHexane-FreeVegan

The lash-and-brow oil — 90% ricinoleic acid, the highest concentration of any plant oil on earth. Cold-pressed from Ricinus communis seeds, nothing added, nothing removed.

Castor oil is thick, viscous, and unlike anything else in the carrier-oil family. The reason is ricinoleic acid — a rare hydroxylated fatty acid that makes up roughly 90% of castor oil’s composition. Almost no other plant oil contains it in meaningful amounts. That single compound is why castor oil has been traditionally used for eyelash conditioning, eyebrow thickness, and hair growth support for generations. It coats each strand, holds moisture against the follicle, and creates a barrier that may help reduce breakage over time.

Sampson’s castor oil is cold-pressed — mechanically extracted from the seeds of the Ricinus communis plant without hexane or chemical solvents. The result is a pale golden oil with a faint nutty scent, full fatty-acid profile intact, and no solvent residues. One ingredient. One bottle. The same oil that has been a staple in apothecary cabinets for centuries.

Who it’s for

👁

Lashes & Brows

Traditionally used to condition eyelashes and eyebrows — may help support thickness and reduce brittleness over consistent use.

💧

Hair Growth

Applied to the scalp as a pre-wash treatment. Ricinoleic acid may help support circulation to the follicle and reduce breakage.

Skin Care

Deep moisture for dry patches, cuticles, and rough elbows. Thick enough to stay put overnight — seals hydration where lighter oils evaporate.

🦴

Joint & Muscle

Used topically on sore joints and tired muscles. A traditional remedy — the oil’s thickness makes it ideal for slow-absorbing massage.

Benefits

👁

Eyelash & Eyebrow Conditioning

Lash & Brow Care

Castor oil for eyelashes and eyebrows is one of the oldest beauty rituals in the book. The oil’s high viscosity coats each hair from root to tip, and ricinoleic acid may help support the follicle environment. Consistent nightly application — typically 4–8 weeks — is how most people report visible results.

💧

Hair Growth Support

Scalp Health

Applied directly to the scalp, castor oil for hair growth works as a pre-wash treatment. The ricinoleic acid may help support blood flow to the follicle, while the thick oil itself reduces mechanical breakage by coating the shaft. Best used warm — heat improves spreadability and absorption.

Deep Skin Moisturizer

Barrier Repair

Where lighter oils absorb and evaporate, castor oil sits on the surface and seals. That thickness is the point — it creates an occlusive barrier that locks hydration underneath. Particularly useful on dry cracked heels, rough elbows, and cuticles that peel in winter.

🌿

Anti-Inflammatory Properties

Ricinoleic Acid

Ricinoleic acid — the fatty acid unique to castor oil — has been studied for its anti-inflammatory properties. Traditionally used in topical applications for joint discomfort and muscle soreness. The mechanism is the same reason it works on irritated skin: it may help modulate the local inflammatory response.

🧪

Versatile Carrier Oil

DIY Base

Castor oil blends well with lighter carrier oils (jojoba, almond, argan) and essential oils. Use it as a base for DIY serums, hair masks, or body oil blends. Its thickness makes it a natural thickener — a few drops added to a thinner oil changes the texture entirely.

How to Use

01

Lashes

Dip a clean mascara wand or spoolie into the oil. Apply a thin coat along the upper lash line, working from root to tip. Do this before bed on clean, makeup-free lashes. Consistency matters more than quantity — a light coat nightly for 6–8 weeks is the traditional approach.

02

Brows

Place a small drop on your fingertip and massage into the brow in the direction of hair growth. Focus on sparse areas. Apply at night so the oil has hours to sit undisturbed. Some people see visible changes in 4–6 weeks of nightly use.

03

Hair & Scalp

Warm a tablespoon of oil between your palms and massage into the scalp in circular motions. Work through the lengths if your hair is dry or damaged. Leave for at least 30 minutes (or overnight under a shower cap for deeper conditioning), then shampoo out. Two washes may be needed — castor oil is thick.

04

Skin & Body

Apply directly to dry patches, cracked heels, or cuticles. For larger areas, mix 1:1 with a lighter carrier oil (almond or jojoba) to improve spreadability. Castor oil on its own is too viscous to spread easily over large skin areas.

Castor oil is thick by nature — that’s the ricinoleic acid at work. For easier application on hair and skin, mix it 1:1 with sweet almond oil or jojoba oil. You get the benefits of ricinoleic acid with the spreadability of a lighter carrier.

Ingredients

🌿

Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil

Single Ingredient

100% cold-pressed castor seed oil. The fatty acid profile is dominated by ricinoleic acid (~90%), with linoleic acid (~4%), oleic acid (~3%), stearic acid (~1%), and trace palmitic and dihydroxystearic acids making up the balance. No other plant oil has this composition — ricinoleic acid is essentially unique to the castor bean.

No No No
I had the worst nightmare using the APLB Tranexamic Acid Niacinamide Lotion. I used this product consistently for about three weeks, hoping it would help with brightening and hyperpigmentation, but instead it completely damaged my skin barrier. What started as mild irritation quickly turned into severe itching, redness, inflamed bumps, and intense skin sensitivity. Eventually, my skin developed dermatitis-like symptoms with painful inflammation, red rashes, and even slight bleeding in certain areas from constant irritation and scratching. Instead of improving, this lotion made my skin look worse — angry, inflamed, textured, and extremely reactive. The itching was unbearable, and the red bumps took a long time to calm down. If you have sensitive skin or are prone to eczema, contact dermatitis, or allergic reactions, please patch test very carefully before using this product. My experience was honestly terrible, and recovering my skin afterward took much longer than the three weeks I spent using it. (Still recovering after 2 months)
