Take full control over your stance with these Weld-On Beam Adjusters. Designed specifically for the VW Type 2 Bus, these heavy-duty adjusters allow you to convert a fixed-height factory axle beam into a fully adjustable setup. Whether you are looking for a mild drop or a more aggressive profile, these adjusters provide the mechanical versatility needed to dial in the perfect ride height.
For the "nothing to hide" fabricator, these are a staple of any beam modification project. They provide a clean, secure way to clock your torsion leaves, ensuring your suspension remains functional and adjustable for years to come.
Why These are Essential for Your Beam:
On a stock Type 2 Bus, the ride height is permanently set at the factory. By installing these adjusters, you gain the ability to:
-
Fine-Tune Your Stance: Adjust the front end to level out your Bus or clear specific wheel and tire combinations.
-
Maintain Spring Tension: Unlike "cutting and turning," which permanently alters the spring rate, these allow you to rotate the center anchor point while maintaining proper tension.
-
Future-Proof Your Build: Easily raise or lower the car for different tire setups or storage needs without ever removing the beam again.
Installation Guide: Step-by-Step
Note: This process requires professional fabrication and welding skills. Ensure all internal grease is removed from the tubes before welding.
-
Disassemble the Beam: Remove the torsion leaves, bushings, and all internal components from the upper and lower tubes.
-
Mark Your Center: Identify the factory center pin location on each tube.
-
Cut the Window: Use a mill or a cutting wheel to cut a vertical "window" in the center of the tube according to the adjuster's travel range.
-
Remove the Factory Anchor: Clear out the original factory center set-screw housing.
-
Position the Adjuster: Slide the adjuster over the tube, aligning the new set-screw hole with your cut window.
-
Weld into Place: Secure the adjuster brackets to the tube using high-quality MIG or TIG welding. Ensure full penetration around the perimeter of the brackets to handle the high torsion loads of a Bus suspension.
-
Reassemble: Reinstall the torsion leaves, ensuring the center set-screw seats properly into the adjuster’s hex bracket.
-
Dial It In: Use the two included jam nuts to lock your desired height in place.
