Local favorite, Paul Butler generously offers one of his re- Collage Parties for purchase. For this event, he invites guests to gather and partake in creating collages. These creative “parties” incorporate culling, cutting, and configuring collages within a communal atmosphere. Butler’s The Collage Party will consist of a specialized private collage party for four, hosted of course by Butler himself.
Paul Butler is a multidisciplinary artist based in Winnipeg, Canada whose practice focuses on the conceptual logic and materiality of collage. Through his well-known and acclaimed Collage Party, Butler seeks to explore the connectedness between collage object and staged event. Butler studied visual arts at the University of Manitoba, Winnipeg; the Alberta College of Art, Calgary; and Concordia University, Montreal. He has been featured in numerous solo exhibitions, most recently The Collage Party / Semiotics Aside, Division Gallery, Toronto; Words Fall Short, Lisa Kehler Art + Projects, Winnipeg; and New Work, Gallerie Division, Montreal. Group exhibitions include You Won’t Believe, Gallerie Division, Montreal; Le Mur—Works from the Collection of Antoine e Galbert, la maison rouge, Paris; and Winnipeg Now, Winnipeg Art Gallery, Winnipeg.
