The Blackmagic Design Spares - Camera URSA Broadcast G2 - PCB Main is the primary motherboard for the second-generation URSA Broadcast. Since the G2 is essentially a "three-in-one" camera—functioning as a 6K digital cinema camera, a 4K production camera, and a 4K broadcast camera—this PCB is incredibly complex. It manages the heavy-duty task of processing 6K RAW data while simultaneously handling broadcast-specific features like "on-the-fly" color correction and return video feeds.

The Hybrid Engine of the G2

The Main PCB is responsible for the unique versatility of the G2 model, coordinating several high-bandwidth systems:

  • 6K Image Processing: Unlike the original 4K Broadcast, this board houses the processors required for the 6K sensor, supporting Blackmagic RAW, ProRes, and H.265/H.264 codecs.

  • Broadcast Logic: Manages the communication for the 12G-SDI ports, allowing for Talkback, Tally, and remote camera control (RCP) via the SDI return.

  • Dual-Gain ISO Control: Manages the switching and noise reduction for the dual-native ISO ($400$ and $3,200$) architecture.

  • Storage Multiplexing: Controls the data routing to the dual CFast 2.0 slots, dual SD UHS-II slots, and the high-speed USB-C expansion port for external SSDs.

When to Replace the Main PCB

As the central nervous system of the camera, a failure here usually results in a "dead" or severely glitched camera. Replacement is typically indicated by:

  • Failure to Boot: The camera draws power but refuses to show a splash screen or initialize the LCD.

  • I/O "Dead Zones": If the 12-pin Hirose lens connector, the XLR audio inputs, and the SDI outputs all fail simultaneously, the common failure point is the Main PCB bus.

  • Codec Instability: The camera records files that are consistently corrupted, or it crashes specifically when switching between "Broadcast" (H.265) and "Cinema" (BRAW) modes.

  • Thermal Management Failure: The camera shuts down with an "Overheat" warning even if the fans are running, indicating a failure of the thermal sensors or the FPGA power regulators on the board.

Key Features

  • G2 Specific: This board is strictly for the Broadcast G2. It will not fit or function in the original URSA Broadcast or any URSA Mini 4.6K models.

  • High-Speed Memory: Features integrated high-speed RAM buffers to handle high-frame-rate recording without dropping frames.

  • Integrated Audio Circuitry: Houses the professional-grade preamps and converters for the internal audio signal path.

Technical Installation Note

Replacing a Main PCB is the most labor-intensive repair for this camera and carries significant risks if not done correctly.

  • Firmware Sync: New boards often ship with "Factory Firmware." Once installed, you must connect the camera to the Blackmagic Camera Setup utility on a computer to flash it to the latest public version so it can recognize the sensor and side-panels.

  • Ribbon Cable Sensitivity: There are dozens of delicate connectors on this board. Use plastic (non-conductive) spudgers to seat the ribbon cables. If you bend a single pin on the sensor connector, the board may short out.

  • Thermal Interface: You must replace the thermal pads or apply fresh high-quality thermal paste to the main processing chips before re-attaching the internal cooling assembly. Without a perfect thermal bond, the board will overheat in minutes.

  • Static Safety (ESD): This board is highly sensitive to static. Work on an ESD-safe mat. A single spark from your finger can "kill" the FPGA, which is not covered under most parts warranties.

Diagnostic Check: If your camera has no power at all, check the Power PCB (located near the battery plate) first. If the camera powers on but the screen is black, the Interconnect PCB or the Sensor Assembly might be the culprit.

Is your G2 failing to power on entirely, or are you seeing "System Error" messages on the side LCD?

Good for the price
Color: Black
I used to have a Smart Keyboard. If you compare it to that (discontinued) or the Magic Keyboard, you’ll be unhappy. But I can’t imagine a better product at this price point. The good: • Case is substantial & protective. • When in use, the iPad stays upright (it rests in 1 of 2 grooves, so angle is mildly adjustable). • Keyboard is easy to install, & connects quickly when you turn it on (maybe 2 seconds) • Keys feel good when typing • Lights are fun (but you can turn them off, if you’re not into that). • It works great for casual use, & it’s so cheap (I paid $28). In comparison, the Magic Keyboard is $250. If you do a lot of typing though, you want to invest in getting something better. The meh: • The case is a bit fiddly to open & get set up, mainly bc the keyboard sits in the center flap when closed, but you have to move it down to the end in order to use it. • I type about 45 wpm, & it keeps up. There are occasional lags though. If you type fast, I think you’d be frustrated, when you have to stop & retype what it missed. • It turns off after a couple minutes, to save battery. Which is mildly annoying when I resume typing, & have to retype my sentence bc it needed to wake up. It only takes like 2 seconds, not a huge deal. But bc of this, I def wouldn’t recommend using during lectures or meetings where you have to keep up. For my casual use (maybe a couple hours per week), it works great. • You have to remember to turn it on & off, to conserve battery. You have to remember to charge it, & to do that you may need 2 charging cords for your iPad. The Magic Keyboard, in comparison, is powered by your iPad. You don’t even need to think about it.

Good purchase ! I recommend this one
Color: Purple
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stylish, Functional, and Surprisingly Durable — A Great iPad Companion I’ve been using this purple case with a built-in keyboard for my 9th generation iPad, and I’m genuinely impressed with its overall quality. It hits the mark in several key areas: 🔹 Design & Aesthetics: The color is I purchased was a light purple—elegant without being overly flashy. It adds a pop of personality to my setup, which I appreciate. The stitching and build look well-finished, giving it a premium feel. 🔹 Keyboard Functionality: The attached keyboard connects easy and holds a strong charge. The keys are surprisingly responsive for a compact layout, and the typing experience is smooth and tactile—not mushy like some others I’ve tried. Great for emails, journaling, or casual work on the go. 🔹 Protection & Durability: The case feels sturdy without being bulky. It offers solid protection, especially around the corners, and the iPad feels secure when clipped in. After tossing it into bags and using it daily, it still looks and feels great—no odd flex or signs of wearing down fast 🔹 Touch & Comfort: The material has a soft-touch finish that feels great in the hand. It’s not slippery, and it doesn’t attract fingerprints easily. It also makes it comfortable to use the iPad in different positions—typing, drawing, or watching shows. 🔹 Extras & Usability: I like that the case doubles as a stand and supports multiple angles. The magnetic closure is a nice touch, keeping everything secure when closed. Overall, this case+keyboard combo offers a lot of value. It’s functional, stylish, and reliable—exactly what I was hoping for. If you’re looking for a practical upgrade that doesn’t sacrifice style or quality, I’d say this one’s worth a look.

Pretty Color & Lighting
Color: Pink
I found myself needing a keyboard case for my iPad pro (10.5 inch). I stumbled across this one with great reviews. Once I opened the box it arrived in, it lived up to its reviews. The case feels smooth and appears to have great quality. The keys on the keyboard sound like a typewriter which I love. I was unaware that the keyboard lit up but to my surprise the lighting was extremely bright even in the daylight. The weight of the both the keyboard, iPad, and case all together feels as heavy as a FiveStar notebook. Connecting the keyboard to the iPad was the easiest part because once you pop your iPad in the case and turn on the keyboard and press the connect button you head to the bluetooth settings of your iPad to pair them. Performance wise sometimes the keyboard snoozes after a few minutes of not being used and takes a second to start typing again. Besides that it works great when you’re constantly typing. Overall I love the color of the case and it’s definitely a money spent well.

Good value for the money
Color: Purple
This is a great little case. This is used for my elderly aunt and uncle’s ipad which doesn’t get a lot of use. The case is protective and opens up to hold the ipad at a couple of different levels. The keyboard is not as smooth as the apple keyboard I have for my own ipad but it really works well, holds a charge for a long time and was a great price.
