The Zeiss Touit 12mm f/2.8 Lens for Sony E-mount is an ultra-wide-angle prime lens designed specifically for APS-C mirrorless cameras. With an equivalent focal length of 18mm (full-frame equivalent), it offers an expansive field of view, making it perfect for landscape, architectural, interior, and astrophotography. The lens is known for its sharp optics, excellent build quality, and Zeiss's legendary T* anti-reflective coating, which ensures vivid colors and reduced lens flare.

Key Features:

1. Ultra-Wide 12mm Focal Length (18mm Full-Frame Equivalent):

  • The 12mm focal length on APS-C sensors provides an 18mm equivalent field of view, making it one of the widest primes available for Sony E-mount cameras.
  • This ultra-wide perspective is ideal for capturing expansive landscapes, dramatic architectural shots, and immersive interior photography.

2. Bright f/2.8 Maximum Aperture:

  • The f/2.8 maximum aperture offers great performance in low-light conditions, making it a versatile lens for shooting in dim environments such as twilight landscapes, astrophotography, or indoor spaces.
  • The fast aperture also allows for better depth of field control, which is useful for isolating subjects against wide backgrounds.

3. Zeiss T Anti-Reflective Coating:*

  • Zeiss’s T anti-reflective coating* helps reduce flare, ghosting, and internal reflections, ensuring high contrast and excellent color fidelity.
  • This feature is crucial when shooting wide landscapes or cityscapes, where the lens might encounter strong direct sunlight or bright light sources, maintaining clarity even in challenging lighting conditions.

4. Advanced Optical Design:

  • The lens consists of 11 elements in 8 groups, including two aspherical elements and three elements made from special glass to reduce chromatic aberrations and distortions, which are common in ultra-wide-angle lenses.
  • This design ensures outstanding image quality with high levels of sharpness and minimal distortion, even at the corners of the frame.

5. Autofocus and Manual Focus:

  • The autofocus system is fast, accurate, and optimized for Sony’s mirrorless cameras, allowing for quick and precise focusing, making it great for stills and video work.
  • The manual focus ring is smooth and well-damped, offering photographers precise control over focus adjustments, which is particularly useful when shooting landscapes or astrophotography.

6. Compact and Lightweight Design:

  • Despite its ultra-wide capabilities, the lens is remarkably compact and lightweight, weighing just 260 grams (9.17 oz). This makes it easy to carry, ideal for photographers who need to travel light without sacrificing performance.
  • Its metal lens mount ensures a durable, long-lasting connection with your camera body, while the lens itself has a solid, high-quality feel.

7. Wide-Angle Creativity:

  • The ultra-wide field of view and sharp image quality allow photographers to experiment with perspective, capturing dynamic compositions with exaggerated depth, making it a favorite for creative work.
  • Whether you're shooting wide-open spaces, tight interiors, or creating dramatic architectural images, the 12mm f/2.8 gives you the flexibility to compose immersive and striking visuals.

Good to have if you've never seen the iTEP exam, but don't rely on it to boost your scores
Format: Paperback
This book is good in that it comes with two practice tests: one in the beginning of the book, one in the end of the book. The grading rubric is helpful too. However, the actual guide part of the book, doesn't help too much with how to improve test scores. What I like least about this guide is that it won't tell you which questions you answered incorrectly on the practice exams. A good test prep guide will tell you what you answered incorrectly, and will tell you what logic to follow to get to the correct answer. In the reading passages, it would be nice to know where I can find evidence to justify the "correct" answer. In the grammar section, it would be nice to know which rule I'm violating. Any test guide should always come with some testing strategies. I.E. If this question is taking up too much time, skip it and go to the next one. This guide lacks simple strategies like that. Simple strategies like that could be useful when incorporated into this guide because there are certain sections on the exam that you can go back to previous questions, but some sections where the "back" button is disabled. Overall, if you've never seen an iTEP exam before, this book is certainly helpful in that it will give you an idea of what you will be testing for. However, this book alone won't help you achieve a score of 6. The table of contents itself will tell you there are only 86 pages of actual content covering test material. That's not enough to cover how to excel in the exam.

Don't buy it
Format: Paperback
It does not prepare for the real test. Using it is absolutely not enough to be approved with good grades. Too expensive for what it offers.
