Fiction. Translated from the Spanish by Peter Kahn. This is not a book. As the title suggests, this is a soul: an Alma. But a soul, make no mistake about it, is not something from another world. It is a conglomeration of images and words, reproductive data made available to anyone for the satisfaction of the democratic and mephistophelian instinct (who has never desired the soul of another?). This novel speaks to what we are--or are not--prepared to share. Maybe we don't know yet what intimacy is, maybe it is the negative of our own image. It is also possible that the only intimacy left to us is that of words. "Kubrick, Malkovich, Einstein and everything else. A piece of quantum prose."--Don DeLillo "The only possible points of comparison for Javier Moreno's ALMA, a book made of sentences, dealing with the materiality of the living, and obsessed with sorting, would be those texts that are most luminous and uncanny. ALMA, unlike anything else I have read, brings together certain amazing qualities of Craig Dworkin's Legion (which consists entirely of statements from a psychiatric diagnostic instrument), of the more radical of David Markson's novels, and of the quietly fevered voices from the writing of Roberto Bola o. Is it a soul? A novel? Interesting questions--but in any case, ALMA is a configuration of words that demands to be sorted through, one that is compellingly unhinged, open and shut."--Nick Montfort "A whole book of poems or an entire novel could be written out of every three sentences from this book, a sequence of sharp, strictly poetic and intelligent concatenations, neither pretentious nor forced."--Agust n Fern ndez Mallo "Alma is an exploration, from a space of creation, of the limits imposed on the concept of identity by the new conditions of identity (and the experience of such identity), inaugurated by the turn of the century."--Jara CallesBinding Type: Paperback

It Works
This works fine. Good size. Good enough cord length. Does what a power strip should do.

Great for multiple adapters
Color: Black, Size: 8 Outlet, Style: Outlets Only
One of the common flaws of single width strips is the inability to accommodate more than 1 adapter unless you want to waste the sockets as the adapter obstructs/covers
the adjacent sockets.
This one has 2 rows with sockets at 90 degrees. As such, adapters face outward and do not obstruct adjacent sockets. Well made and sturdy, typical of APC quality.
Hopefully the surge protection won't be tested but gives you peace of mind to know that all plugged in devices are protected. I have it mounted under my office desk using the mounting holes at the back.
Great value for the money.

A household staple
Style: Data/Line Protection - 12 ft
I use this power strip for both my computer and entertainment setup, and it has been very reliable. The seven outlets give me enough room for everything without having to use multiple strips. The cord is long enough to reach the wall easily while keeping things neat. It sits flat on the floor and does not tip over when everything is plugged in. The layout of the outlets makes it easy to plug in larger adapters without blocking others. It has already gotten a lot of use and should give me plenty more for years to come.

Perfect!
Style: Data/Line Protection - 6 ft
I somehow didn't notice it had phone jacks on the end of it before I ordered, but this was the only/cheapest option I could find that had a flat plug, and a 6 foot cord, and was a surge protector, AND had indicator lights for protection at least (this additonally has a light for ungrounded).
I feel like, what's the point in having a surge protector if it can't tell you whether it's protecting you or not?
I needed the flat plug to fit behind a door that remains open fully and has my outlet behind it as a result. Perfect.
I don't and probably will never have a use for the phone jacks. It came with a sticker over them which I will just leave for now. But this fit the bill of all other criteria. I guess the 5th criteria was a "known brand" - I didn't want some cheap "travel surge protector" by an unknown company. Belkin, Tripp Lite, APC...don't risk your expensive electronics. I also got a few of the Amazon Basics ones to put around the house and replace the power taps we were using. But they don't have flat plugs.
