The first mission was October 5, 1944 and the last was April 4, 1945. All were flown over Germany during one of the harshest winters Europe has known. He was part of the 4000 plane mission to relieve the Allied troops on Christmas Eve, during the Battle of the Bulge. His most harrowing mission was the Hamburg Oil Refineries on November 21, 1944.
