I cannot catalogue myself in normal terms because of all the things IÕve done and places I've seen in addition to the abnormal society that spawned me.

I was born in Johannesburg, South Africa in the township of Newclare to a rebel father and powerful mother. I grew up in a place where gangsters, drug addicts, intellectuals, artists, and priests all rubbed shoulders. This place, though much changed, has coloured my outlook ever since.

I schooled for a long time in the mountains and vineyards of the Cape, from where I explored the natural beauty and wonders of my own country. To this day i have an innate love of nature embedded in my soul.

My tertiary studies have explored a vast array of subjects and I have in a hit and miss way ended up as an architectural technologist more by default than anything else. My love for physics, philosophy and history remains paramount. I have been told I am not a bad painter either.

When my friend Dr Surreya Mohamed added me to Hafez Poetry site at the beginning of 2018, i had no idea of how poetry would consume me. I had never given it any serious thought and in that sense, I am also a poet by default.

In retrospect this is hardly surprising as i am a product of apartheid and its injustices. The result of this is the firm outspoken views I hold against oppression, exploitation, and the abuse so prevalent in the global social fabric. I am also an advocate of environmental issues and animal rights. All the food for relevant poetry.

It is difficult in a polarized world; where so few have so much and so many have almost nothing; to displace yourself into the third person and make unbiased observations in truth. In my poetry I attempt to explore the poles of this dilemma and tender a fair smattering of normal poems on love and whimsy.

I never discard any experience or learning I have had. If I must describe myself, i am a holistic eclectic. I am an earthling. Give me a certificate for that.

Wonderful Read
Format: Kindle
Fly With Me is a heartfelt story filled with witty banter and internal monologues yet incredibly touching. It is also about both finding and recognizing your own strength and worth. Olive and Stella agree to a fake relationship that of course turns into the real thing as they learn about themselves as well as each other. Add in a great cast of characters including a loveable dog, family health issues and drama, and a jealous ex and you have a story that is a wonderful read!

Seriously underrated!
Format: Kindle
I just happened up this book by a fairly new queer writer and instantly fell in love with this book! Like head over heels, couldn't put it down in love. The first paragraph had me laughing, and those laughs carried on throughout the book. But on the flip side, the story will have you in tears of empathy for the main character as she navigates her life with the continued loss of her big brother and biggest supporter. Lastly, these two main characters are ones you root for from the word go!!

Beautiful sapphic story
Format: Kindle
This neurodivergent sapphic romance was everything I wanted in a book. Seeing the messing sides of both characters and seeing them come together was beautiful. Relationships are hard. Being neurodivergent is really really hard. The author somehow got it into these pages and it's beautiful.

pretty cute, mediocre writing
Format: Kindle
Its okay and cute story and characters but writing feels cringey and lazy at times. I also tended to find the main characters sometimes annoying

flawed and sweet
Format: Kindle
While the premise of the book was endearing, it quickly felt under-researched and over-represented. Giving characters mental health diagnoses while describing only surface level or self-diagnosed criteria makes the characters feel stereotypical and under-developed. The manic-like decision making of one of the main characters is often used as a plot point, making it feel like a gimmick to blame the character’s “neurodivergence”. Had there been better research and understanding into mental health diagnoses, and less stereotypically representation, it would have been easier to enjoy. Aside from that I liked the premise of the plot and found the build of found family, friendship, and love to be sweet.
