Cokin Z-Pro Series Infrared Filter Kit

This Cokin Z-Pro Series Infrared Filter Kit is designed to help capture images of how a subject reflects or transmits infrared light.

Infrared light waves occupy the space in the electromagnetic spectrum behind visible light due to their longer wavelengths. Many surfaces and materials react to, or emit infrared light waves differently than visible light waves, which provide the potential for photographs of subjects or subject properties that are otherwise invisible to the human eye. Such images require an infrared-sensitive medium such as infrared film or a digital photographic sensor which may be more effective when used without the infrared-blocking filters that are frequently built over them.

Conventional light sources such as the sun, photographic strobes, or incandescent lighting may be used to provide infrared illumination. However, because infrared films or digital photographic sensors can be more sensitive to the relatively higher energy and shorter-wavelength visible light those sources also emit, the effects of infrared light can be otherwise obscured. The included Cokin Z-Pro Series Infrared Filter corresponds to a Wratten 89B filter and makes it possible to capture images of how subjects are illuminated by infrared light by blocking near-infrared, visible, and ultraviolet light waves while allowing 90% of infrared light waves 770nm or greater into the lens it is mounted in front of.

To allow this filter to be placed in front of a lens, this kit contains a filter holder that can accommodate a Cokin Z-Pro Series Infrared Filter as well as rectangular filters that are 100mm wide and 1.6mm thick. The Cokin Z-Pro Series Infrared Filter is mounted within a circular frame that helps prevent stray light, which could have unwanted effects on exposure, from coming in between an installed Cokin Z-Pro Series Infrared Filter and a connected lens.

To connect the filter holder to a lens's front filter threads, a separately available Cokin Z-Pro Series lens adapter ring is required. For cleaning and maintenance of the filter which is made of durable, optical resin (CR39), a microfiber cloth is also included.

• Z-Pro 007 Infrared Resin Filter

  This Cokin Z-Pro 007 Infrared Filter is for black and white infrared film when you only want to transmit the infrared spectrum and none of the visible spectrum.

  Z-PRO Filters are made of CR39 Resin which is a reputable lightweight and unbreakable optical material also used for ophthalmic glasses. The Z-PRO Series is recommended for focal lengths of 20mm onwards (in the 35mm format).

• Z-Pro Series Filter Holder

  The Cokin Z-Pro Series Filter Holder is designed to accommodate multiple Cokin Z-Pro Series Filters in order to help create the shot you envision. It can hold up to two rectangular filters, or two rectangular filters and one round filter such as a rotating circular polarizer, for the Cokin Z-Pro Series Filter Holders.
  
  Rectangular Cokin Z-Pro Series Filters are 100mm-wide and 1.6mm-thick. A Cokin Z-Pro Series Filter Holder Adapter Ring can be used to connect this filter holder to the front of a lens.
