Klipsch THX-8000-L THX Ultra2 In-Wall LCR Speaker (Each) at Vinyl Sound Toronto Canada

The THX-8000-L is a THX Ultra2 Certified 2-way in-wall LCR speaker from Klipsch (Indianapolis, Indiana, USA), available at Vinyl Sound in Toronto, Canada. Part of Klipsch's THX Cinema Series, it is engineered to deliver true commercial cinema performance in a fully concealed residential installation. THX Ultra2 certification guarantees accurate multi-channel audio reproduction at reference levels in rooms of 3,000 cubic feet or larger, which represents dedicated home theater spaces at the highest performance tier. The speaker combines an 8" Aluminum Cone Woofer with a 1" Titanium Dome Compression Driver mated to an 80° x 90° Tractrix Horn, generating a measured frequency response of 80Hz to 20kHz (+/-3dB) at 91dB sensitivity and 8 ohms nominal impedance. It handles 150W continuous and 600W peak, installs at just 3.7" mounting depth, and is fully timbre-matched to all other Klipsch THX-certified products for complete system coherence in LCR and surround configurations.

THX Ultra2 Certification and Cinema Reference Performance

THX Ultra2 is the highest tier of THX certification for home theater loudspeakers, requiring verified performance at reference cinema listening levels in large-volume listening rooms. A THX Ultra2 certified speaker must demonstrate controlled directivity, flat frequency response at high SPL, and consistent dynamic capability under the demanding test protocols defined by THX Ltd. The Klipsch THX-8000-L meets and exceeds these requirements, making it appropriate for dedicated home cinema rooms where reference-level playback and accurate multichannel imaging are the primary design goals. Unlike THX Select or THX Select2 certified speakers, which are validated for smaller room volumes, the THX-8000-L is rated for spaces of 3,000 cubic feet or more, typical of purpose-built screening rooms, large dedicated home theaters, and premium open-plan living spaces.

80° x 80° Tractrix Horn and Aluminum Cone Woofer Acoustics

Klipsch's proprietary Tractrix horn geometry applies to the THX-8000-L's 1" titanium dome compression driver, providing a symmetrical 80° x 80° dispersion pattern that maintains consistent tonal balance across the full listening area. This controlled directivity characteristic is one of the requirements of THX Ultra2 specification, ensuring that all seats in the theater receive the same frequency response without the lobing and comb filtering effects common in conventional dome tweeters operating without waveguide control. The 2300Hz crossover frequency hands off cleanly from the 8" aluminum cone woofer, which delivers the 80Hz to 2300Hz operating range with high efficiency and low distortion from a sealed MDF back-can enclosure. The sealed enclosure design is a significant acoustic advantage in in-wall installations, providing a controlled acoustic environment independent of wall cavity volume and eliminating sound transmission to adjacent rooms through the cabinet rear. The speaker installs at only 3.7" depth, is fully rated for horizontal or vertical orientation, and uses sure-grip mounting dogs to distribute clamping pressure evenly against the drywall surface.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Klipsch THX-8000-L?

The Klipsch THX-8000-L is a THX Ultra2 Certified 2-way in-wall LCR speaker from Klipsch's THX Cinema Series, featuring an 8" aluminum cone woofer, a 1" titanium dome compression driver with 80° x 80° Tractrix horn, 91dB sensitivity, and 150W continuous power handling at 8 ohms. It is engineered for left, center, and right channel use in large dedicated home cinema rooms of 3,000 cubic feet or more, delivering reference-level performance from a fully concealed in-wall installation at only 3.7" mounting depth.

How does the Klipsch THX-8000-L compare to the JBL Synthesis SCL-6 and Martin Logan ElectroMotion IW?

The Klipsch THX-8000-L occupies a similar market position to the JBL Synthesis SCL-6 and Martin Logan ElectroMotion IW as a large-format sealed in-wall LCR speaker with formal THX Ultra2 certification. The THX-8000-L's Tractrix horn provides higher efficiency and more controlled directivity than the Martin Logan's electrostatic hybrid approach, which prioritizes transparency but requires more amplifier current. Compared to the JBL Synthesis SCL-6, both are THX Ultra2 certified with sealed back-can designs, but the Klipsch uses a single larger 8" driver where the JBL opts for multiple smaller drivers for a different dispersion character. The THX-8000-L's 91dB sensitivity and 8-ohm impedance make it easier to drive at reference levels with standard high-current AV receivers than many competing sealed in-wall designs.

Can the Klipsch THX-8000-L be installed horizontally for center channel use?

Yes, the Klipsch THX-8000-L is rated and verified for both horizontal and vertical installation orientations. This is a deliberate design requirement of the THX Ultra2 specification, which mandates consistent performance regardless of mounting axis. Horizontal installation is the standard approach for a center channel position below or above a projection screen, and the 80° x 80° symmetrical Tractrix horn pattern is specifically designed to maintain even dispersion when the speaker is rotated 90° from its vertical default orientation. The cutout dimensions of 19" H x 10" W apply to vertical installation; when mounted horizontally, the 19" dimension runs side to side.

What is THX Ultra2 certification and what room size does it require?

THX Ultra2 is the highest tier of THX home theater speaker certification, developed and administered by THX Ltd. to verify loudspeaker performance at reference cinema listening levels. A speaker must pass objective measurements and listening evaluations confirming flat frequency response, controlled directivity matching THX specifications, and consistent output at high sound pressure levels before earning THX Ultra2 status. The Ultra2 tier is specifically validated for rooms of 3,000 cubic feet or larger, corresponding to purpose-built home cinemas or large dedicated screening rooms. THX Select2 is the certification tier for smaller rooms below 2,000 cubic feet, and THX Ultra2 speakers are the correct choice when room volume exceeds that threshold.

What amplifier or AV receiver do I need for the Klipsch THX-8000-L?

The Klipsch THX-8000-L operates at 8 ohms nominal impedance with 91dB sensitivity and accepts up to 150W continuous power per channel. Any AV receiver or separate power amplifier capable of stable 8-ohm operation with at least 75W to 150W per channel is sufficient for most listening levels in rooms up to 3,000 cubic feet. For larger rooms or reference-level playback demands, a dedicated multichannel amplifier such as the Anthem MCA series, Parasound Halo, or Emotiva XPA series paired with a pre-pro will extract the most dynamic capability from the speaker. THX Ultra2 certified receivers from brands including Denon, Marantz, and Yamaha are validated to work correctly with THX Ultra2 certified speakers as a matched system.

Where can I buy the Klipsch THX-8000-L in Toronto or Canada?

The Klipsch THX-8000-L In-Wall LCR Speaker is available at Vinyl Sound, an authorized Klipsch dealer in Toronto, Canada. Vinyl Sound carries the full Klipsch THX Cinema Series lineup and can provide system design consultation, channel configuration recommendations, and amplifier pairing guidance for dedicated home theater builds requiring THX Ultra2 certified performance.

Is the Klipsch THX-8000-L timbre matched to other THX Cinema Series speakers?

Yes, the Klipsch THX-8000-L is spectrally and tonally matched to all other Klipsch THX Cinema Series products, including the THX-8000-S bipole/monopole surround speaker. Timbre matching means all channels in the system share the same tonal character, ensuring that sounds moving across the front LCR array or panning between LCR and surround positions maintain consistent texture and color without the tonal discontinuity that occurs when mismatched speaker models are combined. This makes it straightforward to build a full 5.1, 7.1, or object-based Dolby Atmos or DTS:X system entirely within the Klipsch THX Cinema Series for uniform THX Ultra2 performance on every channel.

Can the grille be painted to match my wall, and how does it attach?

Yes, the Klipsch THX-8000-L's edge-to-edge grille is paintable with standard interior wall paint and is secured by premium Neodymium magnets rather than mechanical clips or friction pegs. The magnetic attachment allows the grille to be removed and reinstalled without tools and without disturbing a painted surface when handled carefully. The flat, bezel-free face of the grille aligns flush with the wall surface, making it visually unobtrusive in modern interior environments and allowing it to blend into the wall finish rather than standing out as a visible speaker installation.

Strong Omegaverse Comfort and a Attention Grabbing Plot
Format: Kindle
Jillian West never misses when it comes to Omegaverse, and Not Ready is no exception. This story was the perfect blend of cozy comfort and emotional depth while still delivering a strong plot. Vale is such a powerful heroine, she is strong, capable, and determined but I love that she still allows her pack to love and take care of her. It’s that balance of independence and vulnerability that makes her so relatable. The relationship dynamics were amazing: Bishop is steadfast and completely head over heels, Mercy is skeptical but protective in his own way, and Holt is the hesitant one whose slow fall is so satisfying to watch unfold. The romance hits that sweet spot between insta-love and cautious build, keeping me hooked the entire way through. And that ending. Oh my god, the cliffhanger! I need the next book in this duet immediately.

Interesting
Format: Kindle
So I will say I enjoyed the story, for sure had its moments where it dragged but it was a great story. I really liked that omegas picked their alphas/make the pack. Normally the Alphas make it and the omega fits in with them which is great but I enjoyed this new version where all the power basically went to the omega. It was a nice change of pace. I can admit some of the weird bedroom stuff with her being pregnant was odd, it’s really not hard to do stuff when pregnant (I know I’ve had two and it’s normal and even encouraged at the end especially if you want the baby out). But I like the story as a whole and will read the second, I do hope the next one isn’t dragged bc it stopped being action or tense after she met her alphas and I don’t think it was brought up or properly done when they tried to do it. More sweet after she left.

I’m a little disappointed.
Format: Kindle
I usually like Jillian West’s books but this one was missing a lot for me. The pregnancy didn’t come across as real. She’s on her feet for 12 hour days but is perfectly healthy at 8 months pregnant? Yet the week she moves in all of a sudden she’s not? She is planning on actually running during one of the plot buildups. But at 8 months pregnant that’s incredibly hard to do. The lack of breathing ability and lung space, the change in body center, mass, and gravity. All of it prohibits running, unless you’re an athlete this didn’t come off as at all realistic. I didn’t feel any connection with the alphas. There wasn’t any emotional connection. It could be because of the tense it was written in. But I didn’t get any deep feelings out of this. It came across as checking off boxes. Even the spicy scenes weren’t really believable for me. I wanted to see them fall for her, and it just kind of all fizzled. Even Bishop. One thing I did really like was the ending. I did not see it coming and I’m interested in reading book two because of it. But on the whole this book was mostly disappointing for me.

Vale is an 8 month pregnant omega working as a waitress at a strip club and a cam girl. She starts to get very creepy vibes from a regular at the club, and her baby daddy ghosted her. She has had an online relationship with a man named Bishop through her cam girl status. One night, bishop was paying to watch her sleep and ansthe creepy regular Andrew break in and watch her sleep he tells vale to come to him at his business now. She flees and finds herself at a large security company with some.hot of alphas who are there to help her. This imegaverse is a little different than I have read, but I am thoroughly enjoying it. Vale is not a traditional omega she was raised by a single beta mom, and the alphas are not normal alphas they have never really loved pack life. But they are ruthless mercenaries. They need her, and she needs them. I love the aspect of the stalker and now the plot twists at the end, so so good. Sometimes, it seemed a little slow and stale mated, but since this a duet, I think It was just her starting to have Vale get to know her alpha suitors. Cliffhanger for sure with this one.

That ending 😫
Format: Kindle
I fell into a false sense of security and really thought this was gearing towards a happy ending. Then I realized there’s no work they don’t punish Andrew. I really liked Vale’s character. I don’t normally read books with pregnancy but going into this knowing she was pregnant made it more enjoyable for me. I loved Bishops devotion to her and her happiness. I also loved that Holt and Mercy couldn’t fight their attraction to her. I love scent matches so very much. I’m so curious to see how this duet will end up. And I need to pay more attention and notice that a book I’m starting is a duet to begin with lol
