COURSE OVERVIEW:

Welcome to the Work Effectively in Aged Care course. This program is designed to equip you with the essential skills and knowledge required to excel in the aged care and community support sector. This course encompasses a solid understanding of various aspects, including support practices, legal and human rights frameworks, key philosophies, and industry context, among others, to ensure that you provide high-quality care while adhering to professional standards and ethical principles.

Section A of this course delves into fundamental concepts and frameworks essential for aged care professionals. You will explore support practices that promote the well-being and independence of elderly individuals, along with understanding the legal and human rights frameworks governing aged care services. The course will address attitudes and stereotypes prevalent in aged care settings, emphasising the importance of adopting person-centred approaches and challenging biases.

Key philosophies and concepts underpinning aged care will be discussed, providing you with a solid foundation to deliver holistic care. Moreover, you will gain insights into the industry context, including key issues facing aged care and community support, such as psychosocial disabilities, individualised plans, risk assessment frameworks, and the management of restrictive practices.

In Section B, you will focus on your specific job role requirements within the aged care sector. This includes reading and understanding position descriptions, clarifying job role scopes and expectations with supervisors, and recognising tasks that fall outside your job role, which require referral to appropriate personnel as per organisational policies. Professional conduct requirements, compliance with legal frameworks, effective communication within interdisciplinary teams, and utilisation of digital technology for accessing and sharing information will also be emphasised.

Furthermore, you will learn to read individualised care plans, employ person-centred communication techniques, seek consent from clients or their representatives, identify and report signs of abuse, maintain accurate records, manage stress levels, and implement self-care strategies in alignment with organisational policies.

In addition, you will learn how to apply your knowledge and skills in an aged care work context. This includes engaging in person-centred communication, identifying and completing tasks outlined in individualised care plans, recognising the boundaries of your job role and making appropriate referrals, ensuring professional conduct and adherence to privacy and confidentiality requirements, and utilising technology for efficient documentation and reporting.

Throughout the course, you will be guided by best practices and industry standards, preparing you to provide compassionate, person-centred care while upholding the dignity and rights of older adults in our community.

This course is designed to align with the content outlined in the Nationally Recognised Unit of Competency CHCAGE013.

Great mount!
Great under desk NAS mount. Adjustable and sturdy, easy to install. Worked well for my Qnap TR-004 four slot DAS. I used 5/64 drill bit for the holes. Since my desk has a rear lip I reused rear stopper bit as a headphone hanger. I bend it slightly to a hook shape.

Absolutely solid!
Color: Black, Style: Fixed Width
I wish they made a longer version, because it's kinda pricey to buy two... but I made it work with one I wanted a metal one that I could screw on so I didn't have to worry about it ever again... ever. It's holding everything and doing a great job at it.

Got Some Work To Do!
Color: Black, Style: Adjustable Width
Inspired by a kitten, I endeavored to clean up behind my audio desk, where a maze of wires is the picture of confusion, but apparently also a wonderful place to pull and tug, nap and chew ... so I got this. Then it sat there for a week while I thought about it. Felt complicated, organizing that big wad of a mess of wires. But when I finally got to it, it wasn't too bad at all, and the difference is huge! This item fit under the back of the desk perfectly and provides a deep tray you can immediately start to run wires though. Eventually you'll get there! Good luck!
